Handcrafting makes a rug a work of art and Mr Dottie brings a playfully abstract keynote to a room. Swedish designer Thomas Sandel deploys old-world techniques: the yarn is hand-dyed, tufted by hand with a small mechanical tool and then sheared using manual scissors. Asplund’s hand-tufted rugs are made of a high quality New Zealand wool with the decorative pattern in a Tencel-wool mix for a subtle contrast of sheen, available in a range of lively color combinations.
